EAT GRUB - Investment Opportunity

EAT GRUB is a boundary-breaking sustainable food brand that aims to revolutionise Western food culture by introducing insects as a staple part of it. Operating since 2014, they have pioneered the idea of embracing insects as food in the West. From successful pop-up restaurants to products listed in UK and European retailers, the business has successfully grown awareness and sales and is now looking for support to scale.

THE IDEA
Products & Services

EAT GRUB has a wide range of insect based products - such as protein bars and roasted cricket snacks - with many of these now listed in retailers across Europe. Having a wide range of products allows them to target growth categories including protein powders, functional foods, nutrition bars and on-the-go/alternative meat snacks. EAT GRUB also sell ingredients direct to restaurants such as the Mexican street food chain, Wahaca, and the Fat Duck. Finally, EAT GRUB originally started by doing pop-up restaurants and along with their top chef, Seb Holmes, they continue to host events and provide private catering.

Problem Solved

Convincing the West to eat insects was never going to happen overnight, but the last four years have seen attitudes in the public and retailers shift; from celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Angelina Jolie embracing it, to retailers and even large corporations like Ikea and PepsiCo. There is a wave of change towards a healthier and more sustainable food system, and EAT GRUB are at the forefront of it.

Revenue Model

EAT GRUB has various products and income streams: The majority of their income comes through retail sales (direct and wholesale), and they also sell B2B. With their diverse range of products, they can target different sectors including on-trade and food services. For example, their roasted cricket range is stocked in bars and pubs across the UK and their cricket powered energy bars are stocked in offices such as Google and Twitter.

They also sell direct to consumer through their online shop and Amazon. This continues to grow and they intend to maximise sales after building a new website and, after this round closes, hiring someone dedicated to digital marketing and national sales.

Exit Strategy

Our exit strategy for investors is simple. Within five years’ time, we expect your investment:

1. To have doubled and returned via dividends
2. Or Eat Grub is sold*, ensuring a return greater than double the initial investment.

*Based on selling at EBITDA multiple of profit of between 4, which is conservative within the F&B sector

Minimum Target £ 350,000 Maximum Target £ 434,000 Minimum investment amount £ 10,000 Maximum investment amount £ 434,000
