LAVANDO - Investment Opportunity

Lavando is a technology enabled dry cleaning service, providing hand-finished and beautifully packaged dry cleaning, accessed conveniently through a mobile app and website. With a focus on lean operations, Lavando centralises cleaning at a small number of high quality facilities, offering hand-finished clothes care at scale for all different styles, fabrics and textiles. Lavando offers flexible collections and deliveries with no advanced booking required - just tap ‘Collect’ and a professional courier will collect your clothes.

THE IDEA
Products & Services

Lavando's mission is to look after your most valued items of clothing.

In the medium term they will launch complimentary service lines such as repairs, alterations and shoe repairs. These services will compliment the dry cleaning service and will increase average revenue and gross margin per order.

Lavando will have achieve its mission once it is recognised as the 'one stop' clothes care service for your favourite clothes.

Problem Solved

Lavando was founded out of the frustration of its co-founders, Alex and Ammar. After a recent promotion at work, Alex treated himself to an expensive suit, only to find that when it came to cleaning it his options were limited to local dry cleaners whose opening hours were inconvenient, or low quality app based laundry services.

Alex and Ammar spent some time researching this gap in the market and found nothing that fulfilled both the convenience of an app based service, with the quality of a specialist dry cleaner. Lavando was born.

Revenue Model

Lavando charges customers on a per item of clothing basis, with a minimum order charge of £30. This includes the cost of collection and delivery.

The average order size to date is £55, with a gross margin of 31% in year 1, rising to 53% in year 5.

Exit Strategy

They envisage three key opportunities for exit:

- Premium brand owners - Richemont recently acquired Watchfinder and Net-a-Porter;
- Online competitors - Laundrapp and Zipjet recently raised series B/C rounds and they may wish to enter the premium clothes care market;
- Traditional competitors - Timpson recently acquired Johnson's Cleaning, and they may wish to enter the premium online dry cleaning market;
- Trade sale - significant synergies could be gained by partnering with fashion brands, or other premium online retailers.

Minimum Target £ 150,000 Maximum Target £ 300,000 Minimum investment amount £ 10,000 Maximum investment amount £ 300,000
