Intelligent Health is a health company that gets whole towns and cities more active. It builds up active communities that use behaviour change technology, gamification and technology to nudge people into activity. Beat the Street has already engaged 600,000 people in the past 2 years and can engage over 35% of whole populations making it the most effective physical activity behaviour intervention in the world. It also provides IT support to social prescribing techniques.
Beat the Street is a totally new concept that engages up to 38% of the population of a town and city and gets them more active. The real USP is attracting the least active and getting them more active for the long term (over 2 years). Funding is from NHS, Local Authority and some corporate sponsorship. For example the current Beat the Street in East Sussex involves the whole population and over 42,000 people have signed up and are participating in just 3 weeks. Intelligent Health have engaged 300,000 people this year in 23 Beat the Street Schemes. In addition Intelligent Health is building the IT platform to deliver Social Prescription schemes across the whole NHS.
Looking after the 15.4 million people in England with at least one long-term condition already takes up 70% of the NHS's £110bn budget £77bn as well as £10.9bn of the £15.5bn spent on social care in England. Physical activity prevents all long term conditions and also reduces admissions to hospital and visits to the GP creating greater savings than any one intervention. For every £1 spent on Beat the Street there is a saving of £19 for healthcare and £18 for increased productivity, making this intervention highly cost effective. Globally physical inactivity is the 4th leading cause of death so the problem is as acute in both developed and developing countries alike.
The revenue model is to deliver projects which are funded at 50% gross profit with over 50% paid in advance. We deliver 25 schemes a year. We use the Beat Boxes on a continuous process with each Beat Box generating £1000 a scheme so can be used for 4-5 schemes a year. There are tenders that we will deliver Social Prescription IT platforms with an annual licence across the NHS that will give a more steady income. As we develop in warmer climates we will be delivering Beat the Street in winter, evening out the cashflow.
