Kinderly believes every child deserves the best start and overwhelming evidence shows that providing learning and development opportunities during their early years is critical to realising their potential in life. Kinderly’s award-winning development app, supports childcare professionals record and share a child’s progress so more have a better start and parents are more engaged in their development. They have partnered with PACEY, the UK’s largest early years childcare association, to help their members move from paper. Chinese edTech company Sower International Education and Technology Group have invested and are working with Kinderly to export them to c.300k kindergartens in China.
The Kinderly software links to the Government’s Early Years Foundations Stage framework making it quick and easy for childcarers to digitally capture a child’s learning journey, enhance the parent partnership and provides reports and tools to support childcarers run an outstanding setting. The software comprises of a mobile app for childcarers to digitally capture a child’s developmental progress using a variety of media. The web interface provides at-a-glance development tables, reports, information for Ofsted and accounting and invoicing. Parents can access a mobile responsive parent portal which keeps them up to date with videos. photos and info of their child's activities and progress.
The increasing burden of paperwork was identified as one of the biggest challenges for over 25% of early years professionals (PACEY Building Blocks Survey 2016). There are c.500 developmental milestones in the Government’s framework for each child and Kinderly will digitise the administrative process of recording these, creating more time for them to spend with the children.
Using Kinderly helps reduce stationery costs and helps the childcarer manage their business with an easy to use accounts and invoicing package.
Parents are kept up to date on their child’s daily activities and development in real time rather than waiting for infrequent one to one meetings.
Kinderly model includes three revenue streams:
1. Subscription fee to the Kinderly software: £10 - £35 per user (childminder/nursery) per month.
2. Referral fees from education resources/affiliate sales: the parents app is free but they are currently testing an affiliate model for referring early years educational resources to parents.
3. Targeted advertising potential: for example with Procter & Gamble, Cow and Gate and the Early Learning Centre.
