WHAT TWO HALF-DAYS CHANGE

You leave able to run the whole decision yourself.

Built for exited founders, senior operators, and first-time or early-stage angels ready to commit personal capital. Across the two half-days you build things you can use on a real deal: a written thesis, a diligence framework, a defended call.

(01)

A pipeline, not an inbox

Where quality early-stage opportunities actually come from, networks, platforms, scouts and syndicates, and how to turn a written thesis into a sourcing filter by sector, stage and cheque size.

OUTPUT

A written sourcing filter

(02)

A diligence process you repeat

A structured framework for founders and teams, a stress test for market, product and traction, and the red flags that decide it. You leave with a framework you can run again on the next deal, and the one after that.

The paperwork, and the portfolio

Term sheets, cap tables, SAFEs and ASAs read with confidence. SEIS/EIS relief and its constraints. Reserve ratios, follow-on strategy and the biases that quietly distort every one of these decisions.

THE CAPSTONE

INVEST

OR PASS.

HALF-DAY 2 · 11:35

60 minutes, live

Individually or in syndicate groups

Judged by a panel of experienced angels

The capstone spans the gap between the half-days and one focused live slot, taking you through the entire angel decision, end to end, individually or in small syndicate-style groups. This is the moment the whole programme builds toward: you leave having actually made and defended an investment decision, not just discussed one.

01

Source and evaluate

Between the half-days, take an opportunity through the full pipeline: source it, evaluate the founders and team, and stress-test market, product and traction.

02

Read the paperwork

Review the cap table, term sheet and SAFE/ASA, and flag anything that would change your view.

03

Make the call

Submit a first-draft view before Half-Day 2: invest, pass, or more diligence needed. If investing, at what cheque size, and whether to lead or follow a syndicate group.

04

Defend the decision

Present the recommendation and portfolio rationale to a live panel of experienced angels, including how the deal fits the thesis you wrote in session one.

The panel, drawn from Angels Den’s investor network and bootcamp faculty, questions each group as a real syndicate lead or co-investor would, then gives a verdict and feedback in the room.

Application, then a short interview.

THE RUNNING ORDER

Six taught sessions, three workshops, two panels, a briefing, a breakout, one decision.

BETWEEN THE HALF-DAYS

Not everything has to happen in the room.

AFTER HALF-DAY 1

01

THESIS

Finish the investment thesis.

The worksheet you start in session one, refined against the sourcing frameworks from session two, ready for Half-Day 2.

02

SOURCING

Source the capstone opportunity.

Take a real or curated startup through sourcing and evaluation: read the deck and the financials, and where possible speak to the founder.

03

FIRST DRAFT

Submit a first-draft view.

Invest, pass, or more diligence needed, with a proposed cheque size and whether you would lead or follow, so the live slot pressure-tests a decision rather than starting from zero.

04

PRE-READ

Pre-read for your specialist track.

Short preparation ahead of the Half-Day 2 breakout, so the taster goes straight into discussion rather than set-up.

05

REVIEWED · FACILITATORS

Facilitators review submissions.

Anything needing attention is flagged before Half-Day 2 and picked up in the room, so live time goes on judgement rather than groundwork.

BEFORE HALF-DAY 2

THE COMPETENCY MAP

Where two half-days actually take you.

The programme is built around a single claim: education bridges novice to developing, and experience plus mentoring completes the journey to responsible. Every session maps to moving you along it.

STAGE 01

Novice

Novice

Novice

No investment experience

Limited due diligence skills

Single-deal mindset

High emotional bias

Weak network

STAGE 02 · WHERE THE TWO HALF-DAYS AIM

Developing

Developing

1 to 2 investments completed

Basic due diligence process

Portfolio thinking emerging

Better founder evaluation

Growing angel network

STAGE 03 · BEYOND THE TWO HALF-DAYS

Responsible

Responsible

Responsible

3+ years, 5+ investments

Rigorous due diligence

Portfolio strategy and reserves

Bias awareness and discipline

Active mentor and syndicate member

The bootcamp takes a Novice to Developing across the two half-days, and hands every Developing participant a concrete plan, reserves, syndicate relationships and decision discipline, for reaching Responsible. It does not claim to get you there in ten hours.

WHY THIS ROOM

Taught inside the network you would want access to.

Learn alongside exited founders who have scaled to multi-million ARR, respected VCs, and angel investors with 20x-plus exits. The same network Angels Den has built since 2007.

The capstone panel, the alumni route and the guest practitioners are not bought in for the occasion. They are that operating network.

IN THE ROOM

14

Sessions, workshops, panels, the compliance briefing, the specialist breakout and the capstone.

Every session is framed around the angel’s own decision rather than a fund’s, which is what separates this from the sibling VC and Angel Bootcamp: SEIS/EIS, personal portfolio construction and syndication replace GP/LP structures and carried interest.

WHERE THE LINE SITS

What this programme is, and what it is not.

NOT ADVICE

This is not financial advice. Angels Den does not provide investment advice through this programme. Guest experts speak from personal experience, not as advisers, and every participant acts on their own due diligence and judgement.

COMPLIANCE

The regulatory line is taught, not glossed. A dedicated, non-optional Half-Day 2 briefing covers FCA financial promotion rules and investor categorisation, and shows you exactly where the legal line sits.

EXPECTATIONS

Two half-days are not expertise. The same briefing deliberately re-emphasises failure rates, reserve ratios and the ongoing need for mentoring and real deal experience, because an intensive programme can leave people feeling more expert than they are.

GUEST POLICY

Every guest is vetted and declares conflicts. Vetted for genuine experience rather than theory, briefed on learning outcomes and tone, and required to disclose conflicts of interest or platform affiliations.

APPLY

Four steps to a seat.

01

Submit the application form. Places are limited to preserve a balanced cohort, and are not allocated first come, first served.

QUESTIONS

Before you apply.

01

Is this financial advice?

No. Angels Den does not provide investment advice through this programme. Guest experts speak from personal experience, not as advisers, and every participant is expected to act on their own due diligence and judgement, reinforced explicitly in the Half-Day 2 compliance briefing.

02

Do I need to have made an angel investment before?

03

How is this different from the VC & Angel Bootcamp?

04

What do I walk away with?

05

What about the specialist modules?

06

Why two half-days instead of two full days?

07

Will I get less out of it than the two-day version?

08

What if I cannot make the optional evening?
