PITCHING EVENTS

Our events offer investors the chance to meet a selection of pre-screened businesses face-to-face, get to know the entrepreneur behind the business and co-invest with other like-minded experienced investors. Angels Den is the only investment network to offer free, informative and interactive masterclasses to improve your knowledge in all areas of investing.

November
Tech Club 4:45pm Thu 23 November 2017

The Tech Club is made up of a group of investors who invest in and grow software companies that have a minimum viable product and massive growth potential. It is a co-investment club that gives Angels the opportunity to invest relatively smaller amounts across a larger number of opportunities and diversify their portfolios.  It aims to bring together the most innovative technology start-ups with Angels who have the desire to invest, and the experience to add value.  The 4-5 business who present at each event have been carefully selected and screened by Chris Wheatcroft, the Tech Club Manager.

Each business pitches for 10 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers and another 10 minutes of discussion amongst the investors. The format gives you the chance to ask the entrepreneurs questions you have about the business as well as discuss the deal with fellow investors without the entrepreneur in the room.  The discussion session allows investors to share their thoughts and hear from others with expertise in that sector, before deciding if they would like to see further due diligence.

The investments are focused on EIS eligible software companies who have a minimum viable product and early traction (either customers or revenue) who are raising between £100,000 - £1,000,000.

After the pitching, there is a networking session over drinks with investors and the entrepreneurs.

London Angel Club Session 1 3:45pm Tue 28 November 2017

The London Angel Club is made up of a group of investors who are looking to share due diligence and co-invest in established companies with a proven model. The Club provides the chance for investors to see pitches from carefully pre-screened businesses that have been selected from a number of applicants and is a collaborative event where members can hear from fellow investors with experience and expertise in a wide range of sectors.

Due to the large number of members, pitches are repeated at two separate events allowing members to join session 1 or 2 without missing out or losing the boardroom feel and the ability to ask questions. The format of each event is 10 minute pitches, followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers and 10 minutes of discussion amongst the investors.

The London Angel Club focuses on established businesses that are generating revenue and are scalable with a focus on the B2B (business to business) market.  The sectors these businesses come from include: food and drink, manufacturing and tech-enabled. Most companies are looking to raise between £100,000- £500,000.

The format of the event provides investors with the opportunity to ask direct questions to the entrepreneurs after their pitches.  There is then the chance for investors to a discuss the pitch with fellow investors without the entrepreneur in the room.  This format gives you the chance to hear from investors with expertise in that sector and from others with a wide variety of other expertise and experience. This makes for quality questions and discussion.

After the event there is then a chance to network with both fellow investors and entrepreneurs over drinks.

Speedfunding 5:30pm Wed 06 December 2017

o see what Speedfunding is all about and why it's such a great format for meeting businesses then watch the video the Guardian made here.

Speedfunding was pioneered by Angels Den to give investors the chance to see a wide range of carefully selected business in a short space of time.  Every month, we screen around 300 companies and select 6 to pitch for 5 minutes on a one-to-one basis.

Drawing on the speed dating format, it provides the chance for investors to hear briefly from ten pre-screened deals on a one-to-one basis. Investors can ask questions throughout the pitch, before deciding who to follow up and have further discussions with.

The businesses come from a wide range of sectors including: food and drink, tech and consumer products.  All pitches are pre-screened and go through a pitch training workshop to make sure they include the information that you want to hear in 5 minutes.  As a result, the level of interest is consistently 90% or above for each company.

This event provides a chance to really engage with entrepreneurs and see how they respond to your questions, in a fast paced environment. There is chance for networking after the event with fellow investors and entrepreneurs. The biggest problem is getting people to leave at the end of the night as they make plans for further discussions

Due Diligence Master Class 3:00pm Wed 10 January 2018

Having indicated interest in a company and with a rough valuation agreed, you will of course want to do some checking to make sure everything is what it seems. Depending on the size of the investment you’re proposing this could range from one visit and a few questions, to a full and rigorous appraisal including outside help.

Our Due Diligence Masterclass will help you to know what you need to ask and how to evaluate the answers. We will suggest questions to ask very early in the process to quickly identify potential “deal breakers”. We will be answering the question “How much time should I spend on Due Diligence?” and sharing a Due Diligence questionnaire with delegates to consider how the tasks within it might be distributed. Finally, we will assess under what circumstances you might need to obtain external assistance to complete the Due Diligence process.
