ARTISTS AHEAD - Investment Opportunity

Artists Ahead is a unique, highly scalable solution that collects royalties for music rights holders. We collect all the major types of royalties on a global basis, charging significantly less than competitors, as well a providing blockchain-powered copyright protection to our customers. We will tackle the low levels of trust between artists and traditional royalty collection models by giving artists control over their music and fully disclosing all our fees. Artists Ahead has already completed an initial angel investment round and has secured a UK Government Innovation Grant. The platform is now being built and is scheduled to launch in mid 2021.

LIVE PITCHING

The Artists Ahead team together with their lead investor Phil Turner pitches at one of Angels Den's events.

THE IDEA
Products & Services

The platform:
- collects both recording and publishing royalties, making life easier for rights holders
- uses blockchain to provide proof of ownership
- holds all digital assets and royalty data in one place, accessible to the customer on any device
- collects royalties direct from source wherever possible
- uses modern technology to automate processes

The service:
- has no hidden charges or deductions
- leaves 100% of rights ownership with the artist
- uses contracts that work for the way music is currently consumed, removing unfair terms
- carries out effective due diligence on track ownership
- rigorously uses industry unique identifiers

Problem Solved

- Music royalties generate around £2bn revenue each year in the UK, but many artists receive a very small proportion of the income generated. In contrast, Artists Ahead will charge an average fee of around 8% of the royalties we collect.
- Royalties are split into 2 main classes: recording and publishing, with each being collected by one or many more intermediaries. AA collects all classes of royalties and puts all the information in one place
- Fees charged by intermediaries who collect royalties often include hidden costs. AA will fully disclose all fees and charges so its customers know exactly what they are paying for

Revenue Model

Artists Ahead operate a simple, recurring revenue model by charging a fee based on the percentage of royalties we collect. There may also be a need to charge a one-off set up fee, for example to cover blockchain registration costs where no royalties are to be collected, and further one off fees for additional services.
