Our company was born from a desire to change the status quo and disrupt the plastics industry. Unhappy with the consumers' lack of choice in everyday goods, we decided to develop a plastic alternative from an abundant raw material: Scottish seaweed. It is carbon neutral and requires no land, fertilisers or water to grow. Its properties, once refined with our process (patent pending), can be transformed into flexible films that mimic the qualities of plastic. We are an ambitious and energetic team of Scientists and Marketers with a vast network of supporters and customers (450 global leads at the latest count). We have been backed by leading VC's Sustainable Ventures and SFC Capitol.

THE IDEA
Products & Services

PlantSea Pods are made from only seaweed and organic materials, and designed to dissolve within a minute in warm water. Available in our original seaweed colour or transparent. Our pods replace conventional PVA/PVOH (which will no longer be labelled as plastic-free). Holds liquids with low water content or powders, including oils, laundry detergent and shampoo.

Our seaweed papers are made using seaweed, which is a by-product of our film-making processes. It is then blended with a mix of wood pulp. The inclusion of seaweed makes it lower carbon than standard paper. Our papers are compostable at home and can be recycled in the usual paper channels. It can be printed, embossed, or coated.

Problem Solved

We replace environmentally damaging petroleum-based plastics by
creating sustainable, renewable, biodegradable plastic-like films, paper and fibreboard. They leave no trace and do not harm the environment.

Revenue Model

Repeated Sales in large volumes to B2B customers. We have four key revenue streams. Pods - we will manufacture with a partner and sell to the business customers such as Smol. For Paper, we manufacture with a papermill, and they will sell to their customers as well as our own (grace and green). For punnets we will manufacture with a partner and sell to our own customers (Tazaki Foods), for Mulch Film, we will sell to distributors (Andermatt). For the UK market, we will sell directly to business customers, expanding to Europe we will license our technology.
